Matt Schneider joined Ritholz Levy Fields LLP in 2011. He works with clients across a wide range of the entertainment industry, from film to music to video games (and most everything in between) on transactional matters. These transactions include structuring and negotiating deals for rights acquisitions, project financings, talent services, project distribution and other exploitations. Matt currently focuses on film and scripted and unscripted television, advising networks, studios, production companies and individual writers, producers and directors on development, finance and production counsel matters.
Prior to joining the firm, Matt worked at a boutique entertainment law firm, where he served as production counsel on several major feature films and represented a cable network regarding all business and legal affairs.
Matt graduated from New York Law School in May 2008. Prior to attending law school, Matt worked as a production professional on over 50 commercial, music video, television and feature film projects.
Prior to working in production, Matt worked in story development at Spike Lee’s 40 Acres and A Mule Filmworks from August 2000 – March 2003. At 40 Acres, Matt helped take projects from a one sentence logline to a fully-realized production.
He evaluated screenplays, novels and other materials and worked closely with writers, producers, directors and actors (and their representatives) in developing projects and soliciting funding. Matt continues to work with writers and producers as a creative consultant as well as a legal advisor.
